This collection consists of clippings, photographs, programs, sheet music and audio tape relating to the musical composition "Remember the Alamo" by Cecil Washaw and Julia Smith. It was commissioned by US Navy Band Director Anthony Mitchell for the inaugural of Lyndon Baines Johnson in 1965.

Julia Frances Smith was born in Denton, Texas on January 25, 1911. She graduated from North Texas State University in 1930. She attended the Julliard Graduate School (1932-1939) and gained a diploma. She received a M.A. (1933) and a Ph.D. (1952) from New York University. She was a pianist for the Orchestrette Classique of New York, a women's orchestra (1932-1939).
